In complete silence all you hear is a whistle echoing around the hall. Raise your arm, draw back and aim. Take a breath and on the count of three let go.
Achievement, each week you become better and better. That’s what archery is about. The target is there to measure your grouping. You aim and you miss, you aim and you hit. It’s a lot more than learning one skill, it teaches you about balance, patience and team work.
In a relaxed atmosphere with good company of constant encouragement there’s no other place you should be. Within the club many participate in mini-competitions with each other swapping the target board for a dart board. Yes, it is relaxed but it is also a club and we as humans are competitive. We strive for excellence to the best of our abilities. We feel bad after being shunned down… but not here. You will feel at home, like you’re always welcome. You will make friends that you wouldn’t normally hang out with on a daily basis.
“I enjoy Archery it’s really fun”
In the future, as people learn new skills and develop their technique we hope to contend against other school and clubs in competitions in Scotland and beyond.
Run by Mr Hannah (CDT) on a Monday afterschool for S1 and Thursday after school for S2-6, come along and experience the fun.
