The S2 STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) day has begun. Everyone’s headed to a fun day of challenging but fun activities.
One of the many activities takes place in Mr Fraser’s and Mr Scott’s rooms in the computing corridor. The S2’s challenge is to use “Scratch 2.0” and make a game similar to an old “Atari” game called “Breakout”, a game in which if you’ve never played or heard of it, well, go ask your parents about the famous 80’s game.
The basics of the game are that you move side to side as a rectangle and bounce a ball up and down the screen. The ball is supposed to wipe out all the rectangles at the top of the screen before the ball misses the moving rectangle and its game over.
Here is an interview from one of the pupils.
G: What game are you making?
G: Have you played this game before?
-: I haven’t
G: Have you heard of this game before?
-: I have indeed
G: Where did you hear of it first?
-: The internet
G: Thank you for your time
-: No problem
