Outside in the bright sunshine, there were pupils practicing basketball in time with the enjoyable music. Everyone was smiling and enjoying being in the heat, playing basketball with their friends and classmates. But although it all looked friendly there was an underlying streak of competitiveness between the opposite sides of the pitch. We asked one pupil if they were enjoying the activity and they replied: “Yes, this has been so much fun and I just wish I could do this all day.”
As far as we could tell, the scores were pretty even but the competitive pupils were having a spirited debate about the scoring system. All in all the outdoor basketball was a very successful activity full of cheering, scoring and fun.
Multiple schools were competing including Queen Anne, to prove that they have the skills to be an NBA star. We went down to one of the teachers who said it was a great opportunity for children from all schools alike to compete and show their sporting skills. She also said, “I feel that the Queen Anne Cluster Olympics are something wonderful and I personally look forward to taking a primary seven class up every year.”
